Getting users to adopt a product that’s new for them (but might be decades old for the rest of adopters!) can be a real kick in teeth. In this Medium post, I write about Why It Took Me 5 Years to Build My First Gaming PC which dives into my personal experience with adopting custom PC building. For many people, with any purchase that exceeds $1000, if the perceived friction to adopt is high, the purchase won’t be made even if the ROI is 10x and the user knows it. The key word here is “perceived” and there are many widely available technological tools today, such as a website, that can remove the perception of friction.
