[In no particular order]
Follow Through
Speak your intentions and follow through.
Requirements First
Vetting a must. Build with requirements clearly laid out. Ask and answer questions before building.
Release, Measure, Learn
Six week release cycle. Each release cycle informs the next. Iteration with purpose. Process documentation along the entire way. Measure outcomes and adoption. Retrospectives a must.
Balance
Balance between cost and productivity. Balance between ad hoc and scheduled work. Balance in ROI gain and time investment.
SMEs and Product Ownership
No orphan projects with no clear owner. SMEs designated and responsive. Ownership drives accountability and quality.
Customer Obsession
Always think about what is next and how to make the customer experience even better. Using data to inform processes and decision making. Customer as the center.
Answers as a Service
Data as the foundation, answers as the goal. Data with insights to inform and enlighten. Answer questions before they are asked.
Value at Every MVP
MVP = Minimum Viable Product. Add value with each iteration and build. Don’t forget about the Agile Bicycle Analogy. Always provide recommendations, direction, action items.
Reuse, Recycle, Adapt
If ad hoc you must, find a way to recycle and reuse it. Turn value delivering one-time projects into products that can be adapted and improved over time.
Plays are Your Friend
Use plays to systematize high performance. There are lots of resources for getting organized.
Over-communicate Always
Sharing too much is better than not sharing at all. Don’t silo yourself. Always ask questions. Be transparent and show your work, this helps build trust for stakeholders and can work together if anyone catches issues.
Benchmarking and Goal-Setting as Default
With KPIs come goals and benchmarks to aspire to. Metrics each with action items to reach the goal mark.
Sharing Spirit
Share your work through draft, mid, and final stages. Share interesting articles, news, etc. relevant (or not) to analytics and the industry.
Recognize Great Work
Give credit where it’s due. Share wins and celebrate milestones.
